# Collections

Collections help customers browse and find products by grouping them together.

---

## Viewing Collections

1. Click **Collections** in the left sidebar
2. See all your collections with their product counts and slugs
3. Search collections by name

---

## Creating a Collection

1. Go to **Collections**
2. Click **Create Collection**
3. Pick a **Collection Type** from the dropdown — types are grouped by category (for example Firearms, with Handguns, Rifles, Shotguns beneath it), and each group also offers an "(All)" entry for the whole category
4. Click **Create Collection**

The collection's name and URL slug both come from the type you pick — you do not type them yourself. You can only have one collection per type; creating a duplicate is rejected.

If your store has more than 100 products, the create dialog also offers **Suggest collections**, which reviews your catalog and proposes the collection types that fit it. Adjust the selection, then create them all at once.

---

## Collection Details

Open a collection to manage it:

### Collection Type

The **Collection Information** card holds a single **Collection Type** dropdown. Changing the type and clicking **Save Changes** renames the collection and rewrites its slug to match the new type.

> **Note:** Changing the type after publishing changes the slug, which will break existing links.

### Cover Image

Add a cover image for the collection:

1. Click **Select Image** (or **Change Image** if one is already set) to open the Media Library
2. Choose an option:
- **My Library** - Choose from images already in your team's media library
- **Upload Images** - Upload new images into your library (max 10 files, 10 MB each)
- **Stock Images** - Search Pixabay for free images
3. Selecting an image sets it as the cover immediately

Use the trash button in the Cover Image card header to remove the cover.

## Managing Products

Collections are manual: a product belongs to a collection because you (or an import) assigned it there. There are no automatic rules or conditions that pull products into a collection.

### Adding Products

1. Open the collection
2. Click **Add Products** (an empty collection shows **Add Your First Product** instead)
3. Search for products by name or SKU
4. Tick the products to add
5. Click **Add Selected Products**

Because a product belongs to only one collection, adding it here moves it out of whatever collection it was in before. You can also set the collection from the product's own **Collection** dropdown.

### Removing Products

1. Open the collection
2. Find the product in the **Products in Collection** list
3. Click **Remove**
4. Confirm removal

The product is not deleted — it simply has no collection until you assign one.

---

## Deleting a Collection

1. Open the collection
2. Click **Delete Collection**
3. Confirm deletion

Products in the collection are not deleted, just unassigned.

---

## Filters on Collection Pages

Collection pages, including the all-products page at `/collections/all`, show filters built from your products: availability, price, sale status, product type, and the specifications your theme's [Collection Filters](/themes/visual-editor#collection-filters) setting allows. Product type and specification filters narrow as shoppers select others, so they only offer values that still have matching products.

A link that opens one product type, such as a menu item pointing at `/collections/all?filter.p.product_type=suppressors`, shows that type as a ticked **Product type** filter. Shoppers can add a caliber or any other filter without losing it, so selecting 9mm narrows the suppressors rather than the whole catalog. Ticking a second product type widens the results to either type.

Sold-out products can be kept at the end of the page: turn on **Show out-of-stock products last** under [Collection Pages](/themes/visual-editor#collection-pages) in Theme settings. It applies in every sort order and with any filters, and leaves search results alone.

## Collection Examples

Collection names come from the built-in type list, so they line up with your catalog:

| Collection | Purpose |
|------------|---------|
| Handguns | Pistols, revolvers, used handguns |
| Rifles | Long guns, used long guns |
| Ammunition | All ammunition |
| Optics & Sighting | All optics and sighting |
| Holsters | IWB, OWB, shoulder, ankle holsters |
