Printify

Connect with Printify for print-on-demand merch

Updated View as Markdown

Printify Integration

Connect your FirearmCart store with Printify to import print-on-demand products from your shop and ship them direct to customers — apparel, mugs, hats, and other merch, without holding inventory.

Features

Feature Description
Shop catalog sync Products you have published in the connected Printify shop appear in FirearmCart
Product import Import a Printify product as a multi-variant listing (size, color, and so on)
Print-on-demand orders Orders submitted to Printify when the fulfillment is processed
Tracking sync Tracking numbers sync back via Printify webhooks, with a scheduled fallback
Hold production Submit the order to Printify but keep it on hold until you release it

Printify is general merchandise only. It does not handle firearms, ammunition, or FFL transfers — those orders still go through a firearms distributor or your own stock.

Printify counts as one of your plan’s dropshipper slots.

Prerequisites

Before connecting, you need:

  • An active Printify account
  • At least one shop in that account (My Stores → Add new store → API → Connect, if you do not have one yet)
  • A Personal Access Token from Printify → My Profile → Connections, with these scopes:
Scope Why it is needed
shops.read List shops so you can pick one
catalog.read Resolve product blueprints for categorization
products.read Sync and import shop products
products.write Acknowledge publish events from Printify
orders.read Poll order and shipment status
orders.write Submit fulfillments
webhooks.read Inspect existing webhooks
webhooks.write Register tracking and product webhooks

Printify tokens expire after one year. When a token expires, FirearmCart stops syncing until you paste a new one.

Setting Up

  1. Navigate to Plugins > Marketplace
  2. Find Printify
  3. Click Activate
  4. Paste your Personal Access Token
  5. Click Activate Plugin

FirearmCart verifies the token against Printify. If the account has more than one shop, you pick which shop to connect. A single shop is selected for you.

Once activated:

  • An initial catalog sync of that shop starts automatically
  • A Printify item appears in the sidebar under Plugins
  • Order and product webhooks are registered for you

Webhook registration is best-effort. If it fails, Printify is still activated — tracking continues through the scheduled shipment sync until you click Re-register webhooks on the Printify page.

Only one Printify connection is allowed per store. The shop cannot be changed later: imported products belong to that shop. To connect a different shop, deactivate the plugin and activate it again.

Shop Settings

Configure these on Plugins > Printify:

Setting Description
Shipping method Standard, Priority, Express, or Economy — applied to every Printify fulfillment
Import pricing Use the retail prices you set in Printify, or apply a markup % to Printify’s cost
Default markup % Used when Import pricing is set to markup (0–99). Also used as a fallback when a Printify retail price is $0
Hold production When on, FirearmCart submits the order to Printify but does not send it to production. Release it from Printify, or turn the setting off and the next shipment sync will send held orders
Test Connection Verify the stored token still authenticates
Re-register webhooks Recreate the Printify webhooks for this store

Click Save settings after changing shipping, pricing, or hold production.

Importing Products

FirearmCart syncs the products in your connected Printify shop, not the entire Printify catalog. Design and publish products in Printify first.

  1. Go to Plugins > Printify
  2. Search by name or Printify product ID, or narrow the list with All Categories
  3. Use Filters to hide unavailable or already-imported products
  4. Select the products you want, then click Import
  5. Choose pricing — Printify retail prices, or a markup on cost — and confirm

Imported products are added to your catalog as drafts, so you can review them before they go live. Each Printify product becomes one FirearmCart product with a variant for every enabled Printify variant.

You can also publish from Printify itself. When Printify notifies FirearmCart that a product publish has started, the product is imported automatically (as a draft) and acknowledged back to Printify.

Product Information

Imported products include:

  • Name and description
  • Variants (options such as size and color), each with its own SKU, cost, and Printify retail price
  • Images, including variant-specific images when Printify provides them
  • Weight
  • Blueprint category (used to suggest a product type and collection)

Printify products do not carry a UPC, so they are not merged with firearms-distributor listings.

Inventory Sync

The connected shop’s catalog and stock sync on a schedule. How often a full refresh runs depends on your plan’s sync window.

  • Disabled or deleted Printify variants go out of stock automatically
  • To sync on demand, open the Sync info (ⓘ) menu next to the search box and choose Resync now
  • The same menu shows the last sync time and progress while a sync is running

Print-on-demand items are made to order, so available variants stay in stock as long as Printify lists them as enabled.

For products fulfilled by Printify:

  1. Customer places the order
  2. FirearmCart submits the order to your Printify shop (and sends it to production, unless Hold production is on)
  3. Printify prints and ships to the customer’s address
  4. Tracking syncs back to FirearmCart
  5. The customer receives a shipping notification

Note: By default, orders are not transmitted automatically — FirearmCart creates a pending fulfillment and notifies you, and the order is sent when you process that fulfillment from the order page. Automatic submission on order placement is opt-in through your fulfillment settings.

Printify fulfillments always ship to the customer in the United States. There is no FFL destination and no warehouse-restock path.

Tracking arrives from Printify webhooks as soon as a shipment is created. FirearmCart also polls Printify every four hours for any fulfillment still waiting on tracking, so a missed webhook does not leave the order stuck.

Troubleshooting

Connection Issues

  • Confirm you pasted the full Personal Access Token and that it has not expired (tokens last one year)
  • Confirm the token has every required scope listed above
  • Use Test Connection on Plugins > Printify
  • If Printify rejected the token, open Plugins > Marketplace, configure Printify, and paste a new token

No Shops Found

Create a shop in Printify first: My Stores → Add new store → API → Connect. Then try activating again.

Shop Catalog Looks Empty

  • The grid shows products that already exist in the connected Printify shop. Add and publish them in Printify, then Resync now
  • Turn off Hide imported products and Hide unavailable if those filters are on
  • Confirm you connected the shop that actually contains the products — the connected shop name is shown at the top of the Printify page

Orders Not Reaching Printify

  • Confirm the fulfillment is routed to Printify (not your own stock or another supplier)
  • Confirm you processed the fulfillment, or that automatic fulfillment is enabled
  • If Hold production is on, the order is in Printify on hold until you release it there
  • Use Test Connection to confirm the token still authenticates

Tracking Not Appearing

  • Click Re-register webhooks on the Printify page
  • Wait for the next shipment poll (every four hours) — webhooks are best-effort
  • Confirm the order was actually sent to production in Printify, not left on hold
